Get the Pocahontas look — It’s Easy!

Pocahontas Look

Alright, it’s seldom I ever go without eyeliner unless I’m doing this look. It’s natural and very golden, that’s why it’s called the Pocahontas look eventhough I don’t look like her exactly (it just reminds me of her). This look is great for tanner skin tones, but if you are not very tan, you can do this as well!

Hydrate and Prime
You’re going to want to start out using some sort of facial lotion, make sure it is for the face NOT the body! The product above is what you’re going to use as a primer! I am in love with Roc products and this is one of my favorites. A little goes a long way and it makes your skin soft and ready for foundation.

Apply Correct Shade of Foundation

Any liquid foundation will work, but I prefer Nars’ Medium 4 Barcelona. Use a small amount, about two pumps. Apply all over your face, dot close up to your eyes, high cheeks, bridge of nose, and forehead. Use a kabuki brush and spread evenly.

Now, we need to highlight. My favorite highlighter is Sephora’s Ultra Light drops. A little goes a long, long way with these! Spread half a drop under each eye with a concealing brush out to the top of your cheeks. All this does is make your undereyes look brighter and your cheeks will have a bright, glowy look.

Next, we need to seal the liquid with powder. For this look, you’ll need powder foundation to bring more color out. Do not use translucent powder for this look, it will cancel out the brightness. I like to use Kat Von D’s Lock-It Tattoo powder foundation in Medium 56. Use the same kabuki brush from before and apply by patting, not rubbing. Careful when doing this, you do not want a cakey look.

Bronzing Time!

Bronzing is my favorite type of makeup! It contours your face however you want and makes my face look thinner. For this look, we really want to bring out strong facial features. We want a high cheekbone and a sharp bone structure around your chin. Urban Decay’s Naked Flushed palette has a bronzer, a highlighter and a blush. To apply the bronzer, grab a slanted brush. This is kind of silly, but make a fish face! Like a duck face, but act like you ate something sour! The lines that appear on your cheeks from the corners of your mouth up to the side of your face is where you should apply bronzer. Do not be afraid to add too much bronzer because you can always blend it in with a kabuki brush.

Mascara!

Buxom’s Full and Fabulous Mascara is perfect for this look, but you can also use anything that makes your eyelashes look long and full!

Cream Eyeshadow

Here is where you can get creative. Cream eyeshadows that are matte and neutral are all great for the Pocahontas look. i used a matte cream brown eyeshadow by Elle. Brown eyes are better off doing light browns to medium dark brown, blue and green eyes can do a light gold. For my look, I kept my eyeshadow on my eyelid, but pulling the color out a little more is fine too!

Lips!

Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita dries into a beautiful matte color. Before you apply this color, make sure you hydrate your lips. I like to use mint EOS balls before I apply any matte colored lipstick because they tend to dry out my lips. I love this lipstick so much, it lasts all day and doesn’t go anywhere when you eat or drink. Of course, you can use any matte lipstick with a slight pinkish brown, but this lipstick is a must have!

So there you have it! My natural look secret and that I call my natural look Pocahontas.

Comment pictures if you try it! I’m curious to see if anyone else loves it too.
