A review: Tarte’s Tarteist Lipaint

Who else, besides me, is obsessed with liquid lipstick? Okay for me, it’s specifically matte, dark colors. OBSESSED. A couple months ago, I bought Kat Von D’s long-lasting lipstick in Lolita. It was my absolute favorite for a while, but then I needed a new color, but from the same general palette (Idk, I just really like dark purples, browns and nudes. I stay away from all the other colors!). I decided to try Tarte’s new line of liquid lipsticks.

So the lipsticks come in a really cute package. Tarte calls the lipstick “lip paint.” I was a little confused about what “lip paint” was and if I would even like it.

I really like the thin brush on the wand. It helps with precise lining which is really helpful. The consistency is also a lot like a matte liquid lipstick only it goes on really smooth! It takes a little while for it to completely dry, but the color is amazing.

I ordered the colors “tbt” and “manbun.” Tbt is my favorite because I can wear it a lot more often. It’s a nude pinkish color that gives me life. Manbun is a mix of a Vampy red and berry purple. It’s dark and I’m in love with the name and everything about it.

Here’s a quick swatch after a couple minutes of letting both colors dry.

Overall Impression:

  • Colors are vibrant, does not take a lot to fully cover lips
  • A little smaller than I would have expected for $20
  • Fun packaging and creative color names
  • Lasts the whole day
  • 4.5 out of 5

What’s your favorite lipstick? Do you tend to buy similar colors or do you like to diversify your lipstick color collection? I want to know, comment below!

Homemade Brightening Face Scrub: Warm and Spicy

So I promised a homemade face mask post, but I realized that I had too many recipes for just one post. I decided to just post one or two, but spread out. They’re all super easy because who wants to be spending any more than 10 minutes making a face mask :/ No one. So enjoy ❤

Warm and Spicy is one of my favorite homemade masks. Yes, I made up the recipe and the name, haha.

Here’s what Warm and Spicy will do for your skin:

  1. Brighten
  2. Clean
  3. Exfoliate
  4. Tone Evening

List of what you’ll need:

  1. Sugar
  2. Cinnamon
  3. Nutmeg
  4. Honey
  5. Lemon juice

Step One

Just a teaspoon and a half of sugar into a small bowl of your choosing.

Step Two
Just a sprinkle of nutmeg. Nutmeg is a curative so you won’t want to skip on this part. It heals acne scars, sun spots and dark spots. It also uncloggs pores!

Step Three
Add about three shakes of cinnamon. You may be asking “why cinnamon?” Cinnamon has so many benefits for skin and hair that many people don’t realize. If you have pimples, dry skin or eczema (I have all 3) cinnamon in facemasks or cinnamon oil helps with that aspect.

Step Four

One tablespoon of honey. You can also add more if you do not need as much exfoliation. Or less if you like more of a scruby mask. Honey is great for brightening and skin tone evening.

Step Five
Add just a teaspoon of lemon juice which will brighten anything the honey won’t. It also will clean your skin really well. (I hate this step because the lemon juice makes the mask smell like a really weird combination. But I assure you, lemons are great for your skin).

You’ll want to scrub your face gently in small circles and then let it sit for about 20-25 minutes. When time is up, wipe off with a warm rag then splash your face with water to make sure you got all the sugar granules off. Moisturize and repeat atleast once a week before you apply makeup!

As you can see here, there’s enough for 2 applications. I always make more than I need because I like to keep adding as I’m waiting for my first layer to dry.

A Review: NUDE Skincare Detox Brightening Fizzy Powder!

s1629286-main-hero-300

This little bottle can do so much for your skin.

I’ve used this NUDE face scrub that I bought from Sephora for about a month now and it’s definitely one of my favorite skin care items.

NUDE’s Detox face brightener is really cool and fun to use. It comes in a powdery form with little grains in it. Add just a small amount to your hand (about the area of a quarter) and add a few drops of water and it foams magically in front of your eyes. You’ll want to quickly apply to your face rubbing in small circles evenly all over your face. After the scrub has somewhat dried on a little, you’ll want to wash it off with warm water.

It does sting a tiny bit just because it is scrubby and if you have pimples or dry skin, it might sting, but it’s all helpful — trust me!

So this face scrub is really great for your skin. Most of the ingredients are all-natural. The lemon and lime extract helps with brightening. The rose seeds and vanilla seeds are great for exfoliation and cleaning out your pores. The Inca gold oil, coconut oil and acai berry oil are all for protecting your skin from toxins or dirt.

So you’re probably asking when you see some results. Well, I have good news! The very first time I tried this product, my face looked 10x brighter and felt cleaner than ever. Even when I applied my makeup for the day, my bright skin was shining through it! Just use about 3 times a week and you’ll maintain a bright glow!

Final Words:

  • 5 out of 5
  • Great for a quick, bright face
  • Only takes about 3 minutes
  • Fun to use
  • $42, but worth it if you’re looking for something that will work and last for a while
  • Top ingredients are all-natural
  • Instant effects

What would you like me to review next? Wanting to try something, but don’t want to risk the money or time? Let me know below!

Obsessions of 2015 — My can’t live withouts!

2015 was a great year! Here were some of my obsessions:

  1.   Matte Lipstick- Holy Cow. Dark brown matte lipsticks, nude matte lipsticks, dark purple matte lipsticks. One word: Amen. Not to mention Kylie Jenner’s new lipsticks that sold out seconds after they were released. Yeah I was one of those excited, loyal fans that was ready to click the “confirm my order,” exactly the time it came out, but sadly Kylie has too many fans who clicked that button half a second faster than I had.
  2.  Younique- This new brand of makeup has had me so obsessed. Some of the proceeds go to women who have experienced domestic violence and if you know someone who sells it (it’s kind of like Mary Kay only better for your skin!) they will receive some of the profit too! I think it’s just a great company. P.S. I’ll be releasing a review of the AMAZING Younique foundation and crazy cool mascara very soon! No harsh, unnecesary chemicals and less than 12 ingredients! It’s great for your skin!
  3.   Instant headache remover- I just recently found this nifty eye cover. Heat it up or freeze it and just put on your head when you’ve got a headache or right before you go to bed! It’s only about $1 at T.J Maxx and serves as one of my favorites from 2015 for whenever I need some relaxing me time.
  4.   Glass Animals Zaba Album- I’ve come across some great music in 2015! The Glass Animals have been around for a few years now and this album is great! If you like electronic, tribal music with a peculiar taste, this is for you. Listen to Gooey if it’s your first time hearing them. You will not regret it!
  5.   Travis Scott- Like rap with a great beat and bass drops? Travis Scott has made some great music this year on his album Rodeo. You may have heard Antidote, as it’s one of his most popular songs and has been on the radio for a while now. If you like Antidote, you’ll LOVE the rest of that album!
  6.   Gray Ombre- Ombres in general have been my thing all year, but the color grey has been my favorite color. Although I have not done this to my hair yet, it is coming soon! I promise I will post before and after pictures!
  7.   Heels, anything with HEELS!- Addictive. That’s all I have to say about that!

What were some of your obsessions? Let me know! I love trying new things!

Dramatic, Festive Eyes Tutorial

So I was going to name this New Year’s festive eye makeup, but I doubt anyone out there is scouring the Inter-webs for how-to’s for New Years two hours before the ball drops. This can be got any festive event 🙂 Enjoy!

So this is what you’ll need:

  • Sephora’s Moonshadow baked palette, or any sparkly dark brown and gold baked eyeshadow.
  • Eyeshadow brush and eyeshadow blender
  • Liquid Eyeliner
  • Black Mascara *note, I did eyeliner and mascara before eyeshadow
  • Sephora’s Gold Jumbo Crayon

First, take the darkest brown color on the palette and apply darkest to the space between your eyebrow and the outter corner of your eye, then very lightly to the whole eyelid like so:

Then, take the goldest, sparkliest color on your palette or if you have the Moonshadow palette, use the color that is one right of the first color.

Apply the gold color from the corner of your eye and blend close to where you applied the brown but not all the way up. Make sure the gold is blended partly with the brown so that the two colors won’t end abruptly — that would look weird.

Because you can never have too much gold eye color, I like to add Sephora’s gold jumbo crayon to the corners of my eyes (It’s long-lasting…hooray!)

Hope you enjoyed my festive makeup tutorial!
